Dead City season 3 is taking one character on an ‘epic journey’ (and it’s not who’d you expect)

The Walking Dead: Dead City wrapped up its exciting second season earlier this summer, and fans have been waiting for any and all news about the forthcoming third season. Maggie and Negan's spinoff series has quickly become a fan-favorite in TWD franchise, especially after the season 2 finale featured a game-changing moment for the long-time enemies that leads into season 3.

In a new Behind the Dead video that takes a closer look at Daryl Dixon season 3, which premieres on Sept. 7, and Dead City season 2, the cast and crew reflect on some of the major moments and character arcs. Dead City star Gaius Charles, who plays the character Perlie Armgstrong, revealed that in the third season, Perlie will be going on an "epic journey" not unlike Maggie and Negan.

"I have the dialogue that wraps up the season," Charles said in the behind the scene video. "It helps us set me up on the kind of epic journey like Negan and like Maggie has been, so really cool honor and it's great to a part of the team."

Perlie will be going on an "epic journey" in Dead City season 3

Charles refers to the line of dialogue, which is featured in the Behind the Dead video, "Walking through the woods, a man comes to a fork in his path. Which way does he go?" Perlie speaks this quote with Maggie and Negan after having saved Negan's life post-stabbing in his back. The three of them have realized that they must work together in order to do some good.

Eli Jorné, the showrunner and executive producer of Dead City, shared in Behind the Dead that the season 2 ending with Perlie, Maggie, and Negan coming together and are "inspired to fight for a better world." Jorné teased that jumping off from that season-ending moment, that we will see the trio actually collaborate to accomplish that goal, whether they do so harmoniously or not.

Over the course of not only The Walking Dead but Dead City, we have watched Maggie and Negan go on their own personal journeys, as Charles also alluded to. I mean, look how far they have come both individually and as a pair. No one probably would have ever thought that Maggie would be able to forgive Negan after Glenn's death, but now they will be working together in season 3.

Perlie's journey should provide even more insight into who he is and who he wants to be. Having been a New Babylon Marshal who has separated himself from that ruthless life and teaming up with both Maggie and Negan, it will be interesting to see how he continues to develop and work through his allegiances going forward. Dead City season 3's Perlie journey can't come soon enough!
