Fear the Walking Dead's Garret Dillahunt cast in HBO series Lanterns

Dillahunt's recent roles include High Potential and Hysteria!.

Actor Garret Dillahunt recently starred in an off-Broadway stage production Shit.Meet.Fan. at MCC Theater in New York. Just as he announced the end of the play run, Deadline shared an exciting new role. He has been cast in a major recurring role in a new series, Lanterns.

The eight-part series features Chris Mundy (True Detective: Night Country, Ozark) as showrunner and executive producer. Lanterns is based on the DC comic Green Lantern and is written by Mundy with Damon Lindelof (Watchmen, The Leftovers) and Tom King (Mister Miracle, Supergirl). James Hawes will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer. Warner Bros. TV, DC Studios, and HBO are producing.

HBO's Lanterns Cast

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre portray Green Lantern Corps members Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively. The duo defends realms within the cosmos against evil with rings that give them superhuman powers. The logline reveals that Stewart is a new recruit and Jordan is a seasoned Lantern legend, together they “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”

Dillahunt has been cast as William Macon, a self-righteous, modern cowboy who hides his ruthless ambition with a charming facade. Kelly MacDonald has also been cast as Sheriff Kerry.

Dillahunt currently stars in a recurring role in High Potential, ABC's new crime series, and Hysteria!, the comedy horror on Peacock. He is well known for his roles in Viggo Mortensen's The Dead Don't Hurt and the Orlando Bloom-led Red Right Hand.

Between Oct. 10 and Dec. 15, Dillahunt appeared in an off-Broadway production of the play Shit. Meet. Fan. that is based on Paolo Genovese’s 2016 Italian film Perfect Strangers. The dark comedy is from the mind of Robert O'Hara and also stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Krakowski, Debra Messing, Constance Wu, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Oberholtzer.
