It's an exciting time to be a fan of The Walking Dead. The long-running franchise has lived on beyond the 11-season run of the original series that started it all 15 years ago and it will continue to tell new stories in the TWD Universe for some time to come.

We've seen plenty of this already with the recent spinoffs that have both ended and started chapters of the franchise. The Walking Dead: Dead CityDaryl Dixon, and The Ones Who Live (as well as the final season of original spinoff series Fear The Walking Dead) all explored new territories of the world but also revisited some of the original show's most compelling arcs. And with that, it is clear that there are still plenty more stories for this age old, undead franchise to tell.

Case in point: The first look at the next chapter of the franchise is almost upon us and a brand new look at it has offered up a new look of what fans can expect. Surprise surprise: It's action-packed!

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 key art teases showdown (with new villains?!)

The official key art for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 has been released. TV Insider debuted the exclusive first look at the official artwork after photos of the wrap-around poster made their way online last week. To say that it looks pretty epic would be a major understatement.

The long image showcases what appears to be the new big bad of the series, as a group of intimidating figures wearing masks lurk in the background of it. Up close, however, some of the foes have attempted to do battle with Carol Peletier and Daryl Dixon himself - which, as fans of the show know, is a very bad idea for any bad guy hoping to make it out of the season alive.

Daryl Dixon stars Norman Reedus in the titular role as he reprises it from all 11 seasons of The Walking Dead. Melissa McBride joins him there too, bringing TWD veteran Carol Peletier back to life since her first appearance in the season 1 finale (although she made a voice cameo in an earlier episode). The pair reunited midway through the second season as Carol tracked her best friend to France and saved him from a very dicey situation. They were then able to send their friends Laurent and Ash back to America on the plane that Carol arrived in, leaving the two old friends to trek across Europe in the hopes of finally getting home.

The third season will see them arrive in London before they eventually make their way to Spain. Neither one of these environments have been regular to the TWD Universe before, so to see them in Daryl Dixon - which is known for being the franchise's most picturesque show - will undoubtedly be a treat. And the snippets that have been unveiled thus far certainly reinforce that.

We mentioned San Diego Comic-Con above and that's because the show will have a presence at the iconic event. The TWD Universe panel, which takes place this Friday, will be focused on the third season of the upcoming show. Reedus and McBride will be present and fans are expecting a full-length trailer to make its presence felt on audiences. Needless to say, that will be a welcome sight!

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 premieres on AMC and AMC+ on September 7, 2025.
