There has never been a better time to be a Resident Evil fan. Earlier this year, Requiem was released to critical acclaim and quickly became a Game of the Year contender by delivering a perfect formula that switches between terrifying horror sequences as Grace and Uncharted-like action set pieces as Leon. Now, Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie is just around the corner, and it is shaping up to be the franchise's greatest live-action project. But if that wasn't enough, Capcom also unveiled that it is working on a remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.
The announcement came our way during Summer Game Fest, where the first trailer for the upcoming video game was also released. However, fans are still eagerly awaiting the day when we get a proper gameplay deep dive of Resident Evil Veronica and confirmation that Chris Redfield will also be a playable character, much like in the 2000 title. Fortunately, many signs suggest we won't have to wait long now.
Capcom will reportedly show more of Resident Evil Veronica at Tokyo Game Show 2026
Capcom has an impeccable record of attending the Tokyo Game Show in recent years, and 2026 won't be the exception. The acclaimed publisher has been on a roll lately thanks to the release of titles like Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. So, to keep the streak going, it has been revealed that Capcom will host a Spotlight digital presentation at TGS, which will feature roughly 40 minutes of reveals about its many upcoming games.

Resident Evil Requiem was heavily featured during the 2025 edition of TGS, with fans getting a new game trailer while attendees were able to try out a playable demo on PS5, PC, and Switch 2. So, not only could Capcom look to capture lightning in a bottle once again at the 2026 edition of the show, but a new report suggests this will be the case.
According to horror gaming account malik, the first gameplay footage for Resident Evil Veronica will be showcased at TGS 2026, along with a trailer for Konami's Silent Hill remake, which is being developed by Bloober Team.
There's something very important to take into consideration here, and it is that TGS will take place from Sept. 16 to 21. Furthermore, Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled to be released on Sept. 24, 2026. As such, it is unlikely that Konami will compete against itself by making two titles of the same saga fight for the spotlight. This could also call into question the validity of whether any Resident Evil Veronica gameplay will come our way at the event. Fortunately, there is one silver lining.
Reliable industry insider Dusk Golem has also speculated that Capcom will pull the curtain on Resident Evil Veronica at this year's edition of TGS, given that no major RE title has ever skipped the event. While this is less of a scoop and more of a theory, it does seem like we'll see something of the acclaimed horror franchise soon. Fortunately, we don't have to wait long to find out what surprises lie in store.
