Unfortunately, we have bad news to share. We knew this day would eventually come, but we didn't expect it to creep up on us so soon. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, aka arguably the best spinoff series in the franchise, has officially departed Netflix. As much as we'd like to say we're joking, the fan-favorite show is actually gone from the streamer’s library. What's even worse is that it's unknown if it'll ever make its way back.

Why did The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live leave Netflix?

Its departure doesn't come as a complete surprise. When Netflix released its list of titles arriving and leaving in August 2025, The Ones Who Live was among those slated to exit the platform. The streaming giant had set a removal date for Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, which meant that the last day to watch the horror series on the platform was Aug. 18.

On Aug. 19, all six episodes of The Ones Who Live vanished from Netflix’s library as expected, leaving fans scrambling to find where they can continue streaming the spinoff. So, what exactly was the reason for its removal? Well, it all comes down to licensing agreements. Since the series is an AMC original, its Netflix run was only temporary.

Now, did we expect the show to depart so soon? No. The Ones Who Live had just been added to Netflix in January 2025. That means the horror series was only available on the streaming platform for seven months. That's not long at all, and it was initially expected to stream on Netflix for a year. It's unclear why the show was pulled earlier than anticipated, but it most likely comes down to licensing changes between Netflix and AMC.

Where to stream The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live now

Did you forget The Ones Who Live was leaving Netflix and didn't get the chance to stream it before it was gone? Don't fret! Although it's no longer available to watch on Netflix anymore, it's still streaming somewhere else. In fact, the show was already streaming on this platform before its addition to Netflix and even after it was added.

If you want to watch The Ones Who Live now that it's been removed from Netflix, you need to make your way to AMC+. The complete series can be found there, ready to stream for subscribers, and giving fans the chance to catch every thrilling episode from start to finish. Given that The Ones Who Live is an AMC original, it makes sense that it's available on the network’s own streaming service. This is the horror series' official streaming home.

The only other option you have for watching this show is by renting or purchasing individual episodes or the entire series via digital platforms such as Fandango at Home or Apple TV.

Scott M. Gimple, Danai Gurira, and Andrew Lincoln created The Ones Who Live. It takes place after the events of the original series, and follows Rick Grimes and Michonne as they try to find their way back to each other after Rick is captured by the Civic Republic Military (CRM), a mysterious and powerful organization with its own secretive agenda.

Lincoln and Gurira reprise their respective roles as Rick and Michonne from The Walking Dead. Also returning from the original series is Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis Stokes/Anne. The rest of the cast is made up of other talented actors such as Terry O'Quinn, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Frankie Quiñones, Breeda Wool, and more.
