We're not joking around one bit! Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is best known for playing the infamous and unpredictable Negan on The Walking Dead, has fans absolutely buzzing after hinting at the possibility of stepping into the world of Dead by Daylight.

The actor recently responded on X to a fan’s enthusiastic plea for his Negan character to join the popular multiplayer survival horror video game. He basically made it clear that while nothing is confirmed, he generally wouldn’t say no if the rest of The Walking Dead cast were involved.

For those who are fans of Dead by Daylight, you’d know that there have already been several iconic Walking Dead characters integrated into the game. They are Rick Grimes, Michonne, Daryl Dixon, and Maggie Rhee. In July 2025, Rick and Michonne were added to the game as playable Survivors, while Daryl was introduced as a new Legendary Outfit for Rick.

Both Rick and Michonne were also given three unique character perks each in the game. In addition, there was original voice acting from Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Norman Reedus (Daryl). However, Danai Gurira sadly didn't reprise her role as Michonne. Another actress stepped in to provide Michonne’s in-game voice.

Maggie wasn’t part of that initial July 2025 release as a full fighter or playable character. Instead, she was later confirmed as an additional Legendary Outfit for Michonne. She would be added to the game in October 2025. Unlike Gurira, Lauren Cohan would voice her Maggie character in Dead by Daylight. So, three Walking Dead actors are officially part of the game in some way.

Following these additions, fans were hoping that more Walking Dead characters would be added to the game in the future. One of those characters was Negan. That said, Morgan mentioning that he’d be open to reprising Negan is really good news. What's even better is that the official Dead by Daylight X account responded to his post saying, "Looks like we've got some calls to make..."

Of course, this short, playful response from the Dead by Daylight team has only added fuel to the fire. It's also made fans speculate even more wildly about how Negan could be integrated into the game. Would he wear his iconic leather jacket and wield his barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat, Lucille? Would he be a Survivor or a Killer? Now, this is what fans can't seem to agree on.

Some argue that Negan would make the perfect Killer, while others insist he would be better as a Survivor. Dead by Daylight director Mathieu Cote previously stated in an interview with Game Sandwich that he ultimately felt that someone like Negan would fit better as a Survivor rather than a Killer in the game. So, it looks like if Negan were to really be added to Dead by Daylight, he would most likely enter The Fog as a Survivor instead of a Killer.

But again, nothing has been confirmed by the Dead by Daylight team or Morgan. Still, the conversation alone is enough to keep excitement at an all-time high. Who wouldn't want to continue seeing Morgan in Dead City, while also hearing his voice ring out inside the haunting trials of Dead by Daylight?
