His and Hers starring Walking Dead legend Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson is officially the second-biggest TV series of the 2025-26 season behind Stranger Things 5.
According to a report from Variety citing the Nielsen TV ratings for the last 12 months, His and Hers ranked second with 25.6 million viewers in the show's first 35 days after release. Only Stranger Things 5 racked up more viewers with 32.9 million households tuning in for the final season of the Netflix original series.
Obviously, Stranger Things 5 being the top show of the year is no surprise, but His and Hers coming in at No. 2? No one saw that coming, even fans of Alice Feeney's bestselling novel that the Netflix series is based on.
Even more surprising, His and Hers racked up nearly five million more viewers than the third biggest show of the year, CBS's Marshals. There's no doubt His and Hers was a massive hit for Netflix. It currently ranks No. 10 on the all-time Netflix Top 10 list for English language shows, one spot behind Bridgerton season 3.
There's no doubt that His and Hers' success was due, in part, to Bernthal's fans, including, I'm sure, many fans who loved him in The Walking Dead. Bernthal starred as Shane Walsh, one of the main antagonists and key characters from the show's first two seasons.

For those who still haven't tuned it, which might be at least a few of our readers at Undead Walking, His and Hers is an enticing mystery that follows Detective Jack Harper, played by Bernthal. It's refreshing to see him as a law enforcement officer again in this series. This time, he's trying to solve a murder in a small town with a lot of secrets. Jack tries to get to the bottom of the mystery and solve the murder, but a person from his past and TV reporter, Anna Andrews (Tessa Thompson), is also trying to break the case to get her job back.
His and Hers is definitely a must-watch on Netflix, if that wasn't clear by now. If you're a fan of Bernthal and his work on The Walking Dead, this show might feel a little bit different than what you are used to, but it's worth your time.
If you're worried about a big commitment, don't! This show is only six episodes, and each episode is only about an hour long. You can breeze through His and Hers in a matter of days, or a single day, if you really go for it.
Unfortunately, and this is not a spoiler whatsoever, there's no news on the future of the series on Netflix. It sounds like it's a limited series at Netflix, but after those ratings? I can't imagine Netflix is totally fine with not running it back for another season.
We'll continue to share updates on Bernthal's future and his career, including a potential second season of His and Hers. Stay tuned for more news about other Walking Dead stars!
