Lauren Cohan just landed her next TV role, and it's a big one!

According to a report from Deadline, Cohan will star in Prime Video's Stillwater alongside Ben Hardy, Mia Tomlinson, and Mark O'Brien.

After playing Maggie Rhee for about a dozen seasons of The Walking Dead and Dead City so far, Stillwater sounds like it's right up Cohan's lane. It's another horror series that tells the story of the small town of Stillwater "where nothing ever ages, no one ever dies, and nobody ever gets out," according to the report.

The series focuses on Hardy's character, Daniel, who ventures to Stillwater while exploring his checkered past and searching for answers. That's where he comes in contact with Cohan's character and the other townsfolk.

Deadline reports that Cohan stars as Cat, one of the residents of the town who, along with her husband, Ted (O'Brien), the sheriff, "spent years convincing herself that the things they do to protect the town’s secret are justified."

What?! Is Cohan the villain? If so, this will be a role very different than Walking Dead fans have seen Cohan play in the past. It will be interesting to see how audiences respond to Cohan when she's not one of the heroes.

Stillwater comes from Carly Wray and Greg Berlanti. The eight-episode first season will likely debut sometime next year, but we haven't heard any production updates on the new series yet. We have seen reports that production is getting set up in Social Circle, Georgia.

What does Cohan's new role mean for Dead City season 4?

Of course, every time a Walking Dead cast member lands a new role during their current show, everyone starts asking questions about the show's future and if said cast member is leaving the show. I'm sure that's starting to happen with this news about Cohan.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 just came to an end this fall, but there's still no word if the series will be renewed for season 4 yet. So, that's kind of the elephant in the room right now. Will this interfere with Cohan's work on Dead City?

While Cohan's new TV gig could mean bad news for Dead City season 4, it doesn't actually mean bad news for Dead City season 4. Stillwater is gearing up for production as we speak, and Dead City hasn't even been renewed. If it is renewed, Stillwater will likely be long-wrapped, the first season anyway, by the time Dead City season 4 starts filming.

First, AMC would have to renew the series. Then, the season needs to be written, and then filming would begin. We're still wondering if the show is coming back, so production is months, minimum, away.

We'll share more news about Dead City season 4 as we find out, but Cohan's new gig will not affect the next season of Dead City. That's pretty clear right now.

Stay tuned for more news about Cohan's new series. We'll share more updates about production and release when we find out!
