A few The Walking Dead cast members have been part of the series for more than a decade, but one we all know and love is Lauren Cohan. And it turns out her favorite season is one you might not expect.

During an interview with People, Cohan was celebrating her "longest-running relationshipā€ with The Walking Dead, as this year is the fifteenth anniversary of when she first joined. But when asked what she thinks her favorite season is, Cohan had a simple answer, comparing it to the memories of her past:

ā€œI always think about season 2…you know when you look at pictures in life, and you find an old photo album, and then you don’t remember which is the memory and which is the photo? That’s kind of what The Walking Dead is like.ā€

This is the season when Rick’s group was mainly residing on the Greene farm (Maggie’s father, Hershel) and was looking for Sophia for a decent amount of time. This is also the first season with a double-digit episode count, after the first season did so well.

Honestly, it does make sense considering that this season was the one that brought Cohan to the world of The Walking Dead, and at the time it really was one of the biggest shows in the world. In comparison to many other seasons that were action-packed and introduced huge enemies like Negan, the season 2 setting of the farm feels like ages away and much more grounded.

It’s always interesting to look back on previous seasons, especially with a cast member who has been around as long as Cohen has. She’s had plenty of other work during her time in this universe, like her role in the horror movie The Boy, or when she stepped away from The Walking Dead for a couple of seasons to focus on her own TV show. But eventually, it led back here.

And now she is still playing Maggie alongside Negan in Dead City, which is the last of The Walking Dead’s spinoffs and has really stepped up its game for season 3, creating a lot of conflict, drama, and more.

However, season 4 of Dead City still hasn’t been confirmed, so we don’t know for sure if this is the last time we’ll see Cohan as Maggie. But Cohan also told People in another interview that they have a lot of ā€œideasā€ for a potential next season, meaning they are thinking that the story can continue:

"We have a lot of ideas that are outside the box for another season... If it can surprise Jeff and I, it will surprise the fans... [When] you’ve done a show for 15 years, you’re like, ā€˜Oh, we’ve done everything.’ No, you haven’t."

With that kind of news, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before we see her and Negan on our screens again once season 3 is done. But for now, all we can do is wait.

Do you agree with Cohan? Is season 2 one of the best seasons of The Walking Dead? For me, it’s always been seasons 4 and 5, but maybe I’m far off. Either way, I think it might be time for a rewatch to see if season 2 is the best.

You can watch all eleven seasons of The Walking Dead on Netflix.
