Fans and colleagues are mourning the loss of a beloved Walking Dead crew member, who passed away at 62 after a tragic hit-and-run crash. Behind the scenes, this talented professional also contributed to shows like Loki and Halt and Catch Fire, leaving an indelible mark on television. Sadly, that incredible creative was Amy Blanc Lacy.
Lacy worked as a script supervisor on the hit zombie series for more than 135 episodes from 2011 to 2020. She played a pretty crucial role behind the scenes, helping maintain continuity and ensuring every detail on set was perfect. Overall, her contributions were essential to the show’s polished, professional finish.
On Sept. 1, 2025, Lacy was riding in a Toyota Prius in Atlanta with her two sons when another driver, Buck Rollins, 31, crashed into them with his Hyundai Elantra. According to Deadline, Rollins was reportedly going over 90 mph in a 45 mph zone, lost control of his Hyundai Elantra, and hit their car. He then fled the scene but later turned himself in. He faces multiple serious charges, including first-degree homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, speeding, and hit-and-run.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found Lacy critically injured. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but died four days later (Sept. 5) from the injuries sustained in the crash. Initially, when the police reported the incident, they did not say that the two men who were in the Prius were Lacy's sons.
Also, at that time, the police did not provide information about the health or medical condition of those two men. However, a Facebook post by Lacy’s niece confirmed that the two men were her sons, Adrian and Oliver, both of whom were treated for minor injuries and discharged from the hospital. Also in the Facebook post, Lacy's niece revealed that the major injuries Lacy sustained included severe damage to her brain and spinal cord. Sadly, she slipped into a coma and needed a ventilator for life support.
After speaking with medical professionals, Lacy's children and loved ones made the difficult decision to discontinue life support on Sept. 5, in accordance with her wishes. Following news of her death, The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple shared a heartfelt tribute on X, honoring Lacy's legacy as a respected and talented script supervisor and her vital contributions to the show. Tributes from fans also started pouring in on X, with one fan calling her death "incredibly heartbreaking."
It is truly heart-wrenching to see such a gifted and dedicated professional taken so suddenly. As Walking Dead fans, we will forever remember Lacy's invaluable contributions behind the scenes. May she rest in peace.
