You probably never would have imagined that Marvel and The Walking Dead would be in the same sentence, unless of course one of the show's stars were cast in a major MCU project. But an upcoming Marvel animated series will be right up the alley of TWD universe fans look for a quick fix of zombies, bloody kills, and lots and lots of action sequences.
Disney+ gave MCU fans an extended first-look at Marvel Zombies, the new animated miniseries premiering on Sept. 24, with the full official trailer. In the series, which takes place in an alternate timeline established in the animated series What If...?, a Quantum Realm virus has transformed most people and the Avengers into zombies. Survivors will have to battle the dangerous and fiery dystopia overtaken by powerful zombies in order to save the world and humanity.
Before you think Marvel Zombies is an animated series targeted to kids, or some kind of animated crossover spinoff of the popular Disney Channel Zombies movies, the trailer quickly warns viewers that the series isn't for children. As you'll see exemplified in the trailer, the series has a rating of TV-MA and has all of the elements of The Walking Dead, just animated and with Avengers.

Why The Walking Dead fans should check out Marvel Zombies
Marvel Zombies contains four episodes that will all be released on Sept. 24 on Disney+ for the ultimate binge-watching event to kick off fall. If you're a Marvel fan who's planning on skipping the miniseries, you might want to rethink that decision. It's part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Who knows if the show could share continuity with future live-action movies?
As the first Marvel series on Disney+ with a TV-MA rating, it's definitely a must-watch for fans, and that could even be enticing for The Walking Dead fans and other fans of zombie movies and shows to check it out even if you're not familiar with the MCU. After all, it takes place in an alternate timeline and tells a complete story like WandaVision, Agatha All Along, and other MCU miniseries.
In addition to being a gory animated treat for zombie fans, the series will also be quite the event for MCU fans as it brings back a number of franchise favorites to voice their characters. Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Hailee Steinfeld, Tessa Thompson, Dominique Thorne, Iman Vellani, and Todd Williams are all confirmed to be heard throughout the four-episode series.
While you not see Rick Grimes or Daryl Dixon in this particular zombie show, it's certainly one that TWD fans could throw on for a zombie fix. Daryl Dixon season 3 premieres on Sept. 7, but the spinoff series has a limited amount of episodes. You're going to need something to fill the void. What's better than a larger-than-life series that combines Marvel with The Walking Dead?
