AMC's The Walking Dead introduced audiences to a bunch of characters over its long 11-season run. But while some heroes like Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon have remained household names, others have slowly faded from fans’ memories. These overlooked characters weren’t just background players either. They were essential to the story, and it's a shame that they're not brought up more often.
That's why we've decided to take the time to shine a spotlight on four of the most beloved Walking Dead characters who left a lasting impact on the series, even if fans don’t talk about them as much anymore.

Noah
Noah, portrayed by Tyler James Williams, was introduced in The Walking Dead season 5. He first appeared in Grady Memorial Hospital. This was a place of oppression where the few survivors who remained were enslaved and abused by corrupt officers. However, Noah’s kindness and humanity continued to shine through despite the grim environment. He ended up becoming a confidant to Beth, guiding her through the hospital and offering comfort when fear threatened to consume her.
Following Beth's death, Noah then joined Rick's group and became a supply runner for the Alexandria Safe-Zone. But unfortunately, it was on a supply run that he met his demise. Due to Nicholas's cowardice, Noah ends up being devoured by walkers while trapped inside a revolving door.

Beth Greene
Beth Greene, played by Emily Kinney, may have started as the naive younger sister of Maggie Greene, but she eventually grew into a beacon of hope, resilience, and humanity. Initially underestimated, Beth blossoms over the course of the series into a character capable of making life-or-death decisions, comforting others, and inspiring those around her.
Her tragic death in the hospital storyline is one of the series’ most shocking moments. Since she did not have a comic book counterpart, viewers had absolutely no idea what her fate would be. But no one was expecting her to go out the way she did. In the end, Beth’s death comes during what should have been a peaceful exchange at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Just when it seems like she and Carol are finally going to be freed, the situation takes a devastating turn when Dawn demands that Noah be returned. Beth then makes a bold and defiant choice. With a pair of hidden scissors, she stabs Dawn in the shoulder. Dawn then fires her weapon in a split-second reaction and fatally shoots Beth in the head.

T-Dog
T-Dog, portrayed by IronE Singleton, may not have received extensive screen time or big storylines, but his contributions were indispensable. He consistently demonstrated quiet, unassuming heroism by putting the safety of his friends above his own. T-Dog may not have wielded swords or led charge after charge, but he consistently stepped up when others needed him.
That's why his heroic death hurt so much during the prison era. In the chaos of a walker outbreak inside the prison, T-Dog was bitten while trying to secure the area. But instead of giving in to panic, he chose to use his final moments to save Carol. When they were cornered with no way out, he made a split-second decision to sacrifice himself. He held off the walkers and allowed her to escape.
It was a moment that perfectly defined who T-Dog was from the very beginning. Even knowing he was already doomed, he didn’t hesitate. He didn’t try to run or save himself. He focused on making sure someone else lived. That selflessness wasn’t new. It had always been a part of his character. But in that moment, it became undeniable.

Sasha Williams
Sasha Williams, portrayed by Sonequa Martin-Green, is a perfect example of a character whose strength was matched only by her emotional depth. From her introduction, Sasha came across as a fighter. She was intelligent, resilient, and highly skilled in combat. She was never afraid to step into danger to protect her friends, and her quick thinking in crisis situations made her an invaluable member of the group.
But Sasha’s true power wasn’t just in her combat abilities. It was in her emotional complexity. She endured loss after loss. She lost her brother Tyreese and many of her friends. But while these experiences could have hardened her completely, Sasha remained committed to doing what she believed was right.
Like T-Dog, she would ultimately go out heroically. After being captured by Negan, Sasha quickly realized she was being used as leverage against Rick and the others. Refusing to be turned into a pawn, she then made a heartbreaking yet powerful decision.
She sacrificed herself and took a suicide pill. That way, she could turn the situation in their favor one last time. After Negan opened the coffin she was in, he was met with walker Sasha. She immediately lunged at him, and this gave Rick and the rest of the group the upper hand to strike back.
The Walking Dead is streaming on Netflix.
