4 Walking Dead actress who were pregnant whiling filming the series
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead series aired on AMC for 12 years across eleven seasons. During that time several actresses filmed the series while pregnant. None of the characters had the pregnancy written into their stories, so it was up to the crew to conceal their baby bumps during filming.
Christian Serratos
In season 8 of The Walking Dead, Christian Serratos, who played Rosita from seasons 4 - 11, was pregnant. The crew strategically placed her behind objects, featured more up-close shots, and gave her bigger guns to conceal her baby bump. She gave birth to her daughter on the first day of filming season 8. She was shot during an altercation with the Saviors at the end of the previous season, from which she had to heal, explaining her absence.
Rosita also had a child in the series. Baby Coco was fathered by Siddiq (Avi Nash) and raised by Gabriel (Seth Gilliam).
Sonequa Martin-Green
Martin-Green portrayed Sasha in The Walking Dead from season 3 until her character's death in season 7. She was pregnant during season 5 and used a green army jacket and
strategically placed objects to camouflage her pregnancy.
Alanna Masterson
Masterson was pregnant in season 6, and her character, Tara, was sent on a supply run to explain her absence. Masterson has shared that it was pretty difficult filming while pregnant, as she was still filming about two weeks from her due date.
Eleanor Matsuura
During filming for the final season of The Walking Dead, Matsuura, who portrayed Yumiko during seasons 9 through 11, the actress became slightly worried when filming was delayed. She told Insider on the red carpet at the series final event, "It started to go and go — and things get pushed because it's a job and it gets busy, you know, things get chaotic. All the meanwhile, my belly's getting bigger and bigger and bigger."
