Comedian and podcaster Chris Hardwick slated to host new series Up for Auction
By Renee Hansen
Chris Hardwick has been a staple within The Walking Dead universe for many years as host of Talking Dead and panel moderator at San Diego Comic-Con. He is a multi-hyphenated individual who is a comedian, actor, writer, and producer. Collider reports that Hardwick has a new gig as host of a new series, Up for Auction, giving viewers previews of historic Disney memorabilia before it is auctioned off.
The series will air on The CW app beginning February 8, with the eight-episode series taking viewers to the Disney storage rooms to feast their eyes on iconic Disney history. Hardwick, a collector of all things from early Hollywood, is a perfect fit for the host of this unique series.
The images shared by Collider include shots of notable Disney memorabilia, including a vintage Dumbo ride car and an old-timey Disney map. Other items that will be featured include a 1950s Peter Pan ride vehicle, a 1970s Haunted Mansion stretching portrait, and an animatronic from the It's a Small World attraction.
Fans of The Walking Dead universe have missed the Talking Dead, which aired following episodes of the series and some of its spinoffs. Each episode featured celebrity guests, some from the series, others who are fans and included deep dives into the episodes, memoriam segments, Q&A, and much more. The series ended after the conclusion of the main series, which hasn't allowed for coverage of any of the new spinoffs.
Hardwick also hosts NBC's Plinko-inspired game show, The Wall, and Comedy Central's game show @midnight with Chris Hardwick.
In season 9 of The Walking Dead, Hardwick, who has numerous acting credits to his name, portrayed a walker in the episode "Scar." He attempted to attack Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming).
