Did you know that Vincent Martella, voice of Phineas, starred in The Walking Dead?
By Renee Hansen
Actor Vincent Martella is best known as the voice of Phineas in the Disney Channel original animated series Phineas and Ferb. But many of his fans may realize that he also had a role in an early season of AMC's The Walking Dead.
During season 4 of The Walking Dead, Martella would portray a young man named Patrick, a former resident of the town of Woodbury. When the town was attacked he and many other Woodbury residents would be relocated to the West Georgia Correctional Facility, the home of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group of survivors.
Patrick was a very respectful young man who retained an innocence not often seen in an apocalypse. He is well-mannered and appears to get along well with the other children. He admits to not being ashamed of enjoying playing with LEGOs, a toy geared towards 4-12-year-olds.
In the season 4 episode "30 Days Without an Accident," Patrick asked to be excused from Carol's (Melissa McBride) storytime as he felt unwell. By night, he is consumed by a fever and attempts to cool off in the shower. He falls to his death from an unknown illness.
During the next episode, "Infected," Martella portrays the reanimated version of Patrick and attacks a man in cell block D. This begins a chain reaction, and soon more people turn into walkers. The whole area becomes chaotic as survivors begin frantically searching for a way out. Patrick is eventually shot down by Daryl (Norman Reedus). His body, along with other victims killed during the chaos, are buried, and Patrick's glasses are seen on the cross that marks his gravesite.
Vincent Martella returns in new seasons of Phineas and Ferb
In January 2023, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Phineas and Ferb (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) co-creator Dan Povenmire has entered a deal with Disney Branded Television for two more seasons of the series. The original series follows the step-brothers as they embark on 104 days of summer vacation. Each musical episode features a new idea of fun and a subplot that follows their pet platypus Perry (Dee Bradley Baker) and his quest against his arch-nemesis Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire).
Phineas and Ferb became the highest-rated series among kids 6-11 and 9-14 in Disney Television Animation History.
