Throughout her story, Michonne became a leader within the communities, and in season 6, she formed a romantic relationship with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). They made a powerful duo whose strengths complimented the other, and fans were excited to see these characters become a couple.
In season 9, the unthinkable happened: Rick was blown up during an explosion at a bridge and thought to have died. Viewers knew he was whisked away, but Michonne suffered her loss greatly. She would give birth to Rick's son, Rick Jr., known as RJ (Antony Azor), and continue to care for Rick's daughter, Judith (Cailey Fleming), of whom she had already been a mother for years.
