Fear the Walking Dead's Austin Amelio in Hit Man premieres at Sundance
By Renee Hansen
Actor Austin Amelio portrayed Dwight in The Walking Dead and was the second crossover character to Fear the Walking Dead. His story concluded with the ending of Fear the Walking Dead in 2023, unless he appears in one of the new spinoffs. Until that time, Amelio will star in a new action comedy Hit Man.
Directed by Richard Linklater, who is known for the comedies Slacker and Dazed and Confused, Hit Man premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival and at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Netflix acquired the distribution rights for $20 million. The film will premiere on the streamer on June 7, 2024, and a theatrical release is also expected.
The story follows an undercover Houston police officer, played by Glen Powell, who co-wrote the screenplay with Linklater and poses as a reliable hitman to arrest those trying to hire him until he tries to save a woman in need.
