Walking Dead's Michael Rooker (Merle Dixon), Tom Payne (Jesus), and Fear TWD's Alejandro Egga (Marco) will appear in Kevin Costner's first Civil War-era film since Dances with Wolves (1990). The movie titled Horizon: An American Saga will be released in two parts this summer, with two more installments at a later date. The first-look trailer showcases what appears to be another fantastic film by Costner.
The epic western is produced, directed, and stars Costner, who co-wrote the film with Jon Baird. The story is set before and after the Civil War during the westward expansion. Told through the eyes of the settlers and the indigenous people living on the land, the movie showcases their battles with the elements and each other while highlighting the determination of one group to settle the land and the other fighting to keep it.
Chapter 1 premieres in theaters on June 28, 2024, and spans from 1861-1865 during the American Civil War. This story will chronicle a nation at war with itself through the eyes of family, friends, and foes, discovering what it is to be the United States of America.
Chapter 2 premieres in theaters on August 16, 2024, and begins the story of the westward expansion of the American West.
