The InSneider reports that Walking Dead's original showrunner, Frank Darabont, is in talks to direct two of the final eight episodes of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things. Darabont is well known for directing The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, both adaptations of Stephen King novels.

While Netflix has made no official announcement, including Darabont would be a smart move. Stranger Things features many nods to 80s pop culture, including Stephen King, with which Darabont is very familiar.

While little has been revealed about the storyline of the final season of Stranger Things, creators Matt and Ross Duffer, known as The Duffer Brothers, have shot down one fan theory regarding the end of the series.

The fan theory suggests that the series' events have never occurred, but it was just a long game of Dungeons and Dragons. In an interview with Metro, Matt Duffer jokes, "That is correct. That is the ending…. No." To which Ross Duffer added, “That would be the equivalent of, ‘That’s all a dream.’ No, I assure you that is not how we’re going to end the show. We’ve known where we’ve been going for a while. And we feel comfortable with it; hopefully, it satisfies everyone. We’ll see.”

Actors from the series have commented on the ending. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, has commented that the series does have a real ending, with things ending in "a very real way." Eleven actress Millie Bobby Brown is looking forward to finalizing the story, telling Women's Wear Daily, “You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish, and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”

Frank Darabont - The Mist

The Mist is a cult classic written and directed by Darabont and based on Stephen King's novella. This is another example of why Darabont should be involved in Stranger Things. The monster movie focuses on ordinary people doing extraordinary things, just as the series shows.

"The story is less about the monsters outside than about the monsters inside, the people you're stuck with, your friends and neighbors breaking under the strain."

It will be exciting to learn if Darabont will in fact, direct episodes of the final exciting chapter of Stranger Things. Undead Walking will keep you posted.
