Seth Gilliam isn't just known for The Walking Dead: Here's his best movies & TV shows

Actor Seth Gilliam began his career in the 1990s, starring in the films Still Alice, Starship Troopers, and Courage Under Fire. He is well known for portraying Father Gabriel Stokes in AMC's long-running apocolyptic series, The Walking Dead.

Gilliam starred in the Teen Wolf series as Dr. Alan Deaton, a veterinarian at Beacon Hills Animal Clinic and a druid. The series ran for six seasons between 2011 and 2017. He reprised his role in Teen Wolf: The Movie, which was released in January 2023 on Paramount+.

He is best known for his role as Ellis Carver on the HBO series The Wire. The series has received critical acclaim and won a variety of awards. Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is a fan of the series and, over the years, cast several members from The Wire for TWD, including Gilliam, Chad Coleman, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., and Merritt Wever. Other TWD cast that appear in the series include Michael James Shaw (uncredited) and Vincent M. Ward,

Gilliam has several guest role credits, CSI: Miami, Nurse Jackie, Skins, Person of Interest, and The Good Wife. His most recent credits include The Code, City on a Hill, Bull, and Blacklist.

In 2014, Gilliam was cast as Father Gabriel for the fifth season of The Walking Dead. He portrayed this role until the series ended and was one of many characters who experienced epic transformations. He sadly lost his love, Rosita (Christian Serratos), but had the comfort of their daughter, Coco, to help the pain of this loss. After the one-year time jump, Gabriel and Coco were happily situated at Alexandria.
