Sonequa Martin-Green stars in Travis Kelce produced film My Dead Friend Zoe
My Dead Friend Zoe will premiere at SXSW on March 9 & 13.

Actress and producer Sonequa Martin-Green is well known for her portrayal of Sasha Williams on The Walking Dead and as Captain Michael Burnham on Star Trek: Discovery, which premieres its final season on April 4 on Paramount+. Next up, Martin-Green will star in a dark comedy-drama, My Dead Friend Zoe.
The film will premiere at SXSW on March 9 and was written by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes and A. J. Bermudez, and marks Hausmann-Stokes directorial debut. My Dead Friend Zoe is based on
Hausmann-Stokes short Merit x Zoe. The production is Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's first production credit and the first film to be financed indirectly by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

The movie has a great cast line-up, including Sonequa Martin-Green as Merit and Natalie Morales as her deceased best friend; they are joined by Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman, Gloria Reuben, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Thom Tan.
Hausmann-Stokes is a former US Army paratrooper and convoy commander issued a Bronze Star for his service in Iraq. He co-founded the nonprofit t Veterans in Media & Entertainment and has committed to the social and human side of the military experience.
My Dead Friend Zoe
The story follows Merit, who has a strange yet comfortable relationship with her dead best friend, who also served in the Army with her. She understands this is a dysfunctional relationship, but she is unable to let her friend go. When her estranged grandfather (Harris), who is her hero and a Veteran, experiences a fall requiring Merit to take care of him, she is determined to patch things up with him. She heads to the family lake house, determined to mend the special bond they once had.
