The Walking Dead season 11 deaths – Reapers
The Reapers were a menacing-looking group led by Pope (Ritchie Coster), officially introduced in season 11. One of their members was featured in a season 10 episode, “Home Sweet Home,” as he tried to kill Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and some of her companions. This is the first mention of Pope when the assailant says to Maggie, “Pope marked you,” before blowing himself up with a grenade.
After returning from Afghanistan, the group members, all former US military personnel, had trouble acclimating to civilian life. They became mercenaries, and Pope believed God blessed them and began egan targeting vulnerable communities, slaughtering innocent survivors, and taking their supplies. They would ravage Maggie’s group, the Wardens, for which she would exact revenge. Daryl (Norman Reedus) previously had a relationship with Leah (Lynn Collins), discovers she is a member of the Reapers, and lets her go because of their past. This would come back around, requiring Daryl to kill her to save Maggie. The death of Leah marked the end of the Reapers.
