The Walking Dead's 4 best heroes and 2 most cowardly characters
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead series has its share of heroes, villains, and even cowards. Throughout the 11 seasons, many characters have proved themselves with heroic feats, and some didn't even try. Check out our list of four heroes and two cowards.
Walking Dead's best heros
Rick Grimes
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is the hero of The Walking Dead. Even though he made some wrong choices, he has proven himself brave, loyal, and a man you want on your team in an apocalypse. He left the series in season 9, where he performed one final heroic act and blew up the bridge to save those he loves.
Rick's story has continued is The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live series.
Daryl Dixon
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) began his journey as a loner who had always lived in the shadow and influence of his older brother Merle (Michael Rooker). Once free of that negative influence, Daryl began to come into his own and prove his worth. He is brave and loyal and will fight for those he loves. Throughout the 11 seasons, Daryl transformed into a leader, a fighter, and a hero.
Daryl's story is continued in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon series.
Michonne
Everyone knew Michonne (Danai Gurira) was destined to be a hero when, upon her introduction, she saved Andrea (Laurie Holden), a complete stranger. She never hesitates to stand up for what she believes and fights to keep her loved ones safe. She has had to overcome so much before and after the outbreak but keeps her wits about her. Her heroism knows no bounds.
Michonne's story is continued in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live series.
Carol
Carol (Melissa McBride) is a character who transforms from an abused housewife to an all-out warrior. She has saved the group more times than any other with impressive skill. She makes the hard choices no one else wants and follows through with extremely tough and unpopular decisions.
Carol's story is continued in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon series.
2 most cowardly characters in The Walking Dead
Gregory
Gregory (Xander Berkely) was the biggest coward in the series who somehow became the leader of the Hilltop. He was a highly entertaining character but was scared witless of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his Saviors. Every move he made was selfish, and he never had the community's best interests in mind. Ultimately, he convinces Earl (John Finn) to kill Maggie (Lauren Cohan), as he could never pull it off himself. This plan fails, and Gregory dies a coward's death at the hands of the woman he tried to assassinate.
Nicholas
Fans will never forget Nicholas' (Michael Traynor) cowardice that resulted in the death of Noah (Tyler James Williams). Trapped in a revolving door with Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Noah, Nicholas freed himself but, in the process, trapped Noah in the building filled with walkers, where he was torn to shreds. Later, he would attack Glenn in the woods and leave him for dead. Glenn rallies and beats Nicholas and chooses not to kill him but gives him another chance. During the famous dumpster scene, Nicholas, believing there is no way out, shoots himself, which forces both of them to fall off into a pit of walker, of which Glenn barely survives.
