Since his character Shane Walsh was killed off in season 2 of The Walking Dead, Jon Bernthal has gone on to extraordinary movies and shows. One of those movies, released in 2016, is currently No. 1 on Netflix's Top 10 Movie list for this week, March 30.
The Accountant was released on the streaming service on March 27 and quickly climbed to the top of the service's movies. Gavin O'Connor (Miracle and Warrior) directs the story written by Bill Dubuque (Ozark). The story follows math savant Christian Wolff, portrayed by award-winning Ben Affleck, who uses his small-town CPA office as a front for freelance accountant work he does for some of the most dangerous criminals.
The film also stars two-time Oscar nominee John Lithgow, Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick, and Oscar winner J.K. Simmons, with Jon Bernthal, Jean Smart, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson.
Ray King (Simmons) runs the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, which has its eyes on Wolff. When he takes on a state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client, an accounting clerk brings a million-dollar discrepancy to his attention. While Wolff "uncooks" (sanitizing the already fraudulent financial and accounting records) the books, he gets closer to discovering the truth, and the body count begins to rise.

The Accountant 2
A second film is currently filming and could see more screentime for Bernthal, who plays Christian's brother Brax. Director O'Connor stated in a 2021 interview that a third movie is also being written, which would allow the second to focus more on Brax.
Next, Bernthal will return as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher in in the Marvel seriesDaredevil: Born Againfor Disney+.
