Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal cast in Netflix twisty psychological thriller His & Hers
By Renee Hansen
Actor and podcast personality Jon Bernthal recently received his first, much-deserved Emmy award for his role as Mikey in HBO's The Bear. Next, Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle/Punisher in the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, set to release in March 2025. Netflix has announced that Bernthal and Pablo Schreiber have been cast in a new thriller, His & Hers.
Tessa Tompson (Creed, Thor) will serve as an executive producer and star in what Netflix describes as a seductive and twisty psychological thriller, His & Hers. Adapted from Alice Feeney's same-titled novel, the six-part limited series will feature Dee Johnson (Fellow Travelers, The Good Wife, ER) as writer and showrunner, and executive produce with Jessica Chastain. William Oldroyd (Eileen) directs the first episode.
The series begins in Atlanta, where Thompson's Anna, a news anchor, has become quite the recluse, pulling away from friends and her career. When she returns to work, her hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, reports a murder. She is assigned to the story as a field reporter and returns to life, putting her energies into investigating what happened. Her sudden involvement raises suspicions from local detective Jack Harper, as she complicates his life and his own investigation.
Bernthal has been cast as Jack Harper, estranged husband of Anna, whose relationship is weighed down with loss and betrayal. Jack moved back to his sleepy north Georgia hometown to take a job after losing his previous position in the sheriff's office. The latest case deeply troubles him and Anna's return further complicates things. Jack is a good man but he often has issues making the right decisions.
Schreiber (Halo, Den of Thieves, Orange Is the New Black) has been cast as Richard, the best cameraman at WSK TV News and husband to the hot news anchor Lexy Jones, who took over for Anna in her absence. Anna enlists Richard to accompany her to Dahlonega to cover the murder investigation.
Production for His & Hers will begin in the fall of 2024.
Bernthal is well known for his role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead, Brax Wolff in The Accountant, a role he will reprise in the sequel, and as Baltimore Police Department Sergeant Wayne Jenkins in the HBO series We Own This City.
