Actor Khary Payton, who portrayed King Ezekiel, ended his time on The Walking Dead in the series finale back in leadership, as it should be. He, along with Michael Mercer (Michael James Shaw), assumed the roles of leadership in the Commonwealth. Recently, Khary was involved in Encounter Party, which is part of Amazon's Dungeons and Dragons Adventures programming. Now, he will join Marvel in a new role in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra game.

The game presented by Skydance New Media was announced at the recent State of Unreal presentation at the Game Developers Conference with a story trailer showcasing the World War II era game highlighting key characters. The trailer is quite impressive, and game developer Amy Hennig (Uncharted 2) promises the visuals are pulled right from the game.

In the game, Payton will portray Azzuri, T'Challa's grandfather, and the Black Panther during the World War II era, who fights alongside Steve Rogers, aka Captain American in WWII, who is portrayed by Drew Moerlein. Megalyn Echikunwoke will take on the role of Nanali, a spy of Wakandan descent.

In the role of Gabriel Jones, a US soldier who is a member of the Howling Commandos, is Marque Richardson. Lyne Renée will play Julie, a member of the French Resistance and an important French ally, with Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark, father to Tony, aka Iron Man, and founder of Stark Industries.

Below is a social media post featuring an image of the characters.

Payton, who previously teased that some news was coming soon with a cryptic post captioned, "I wish I could tell you what I am smiling about." Now the news is out, and Khary happily shared all the info regarding his role in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, which is set for a release in 2025.
