Walking Dead alum Tom Payne celebrates becoming a US citizen and upcoming roles

Actor Tom Payne starred in his first US role in 2007 in the movie Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, starring Frances McDormand and Amy Adams. Since then, he has portrayed many different roles, including Paul "Jesus" Rovia in The Walking Dead series, a character with one of the most shocking deaths in the show's later seasons. Payne recently shared his excitement about becoming a US citizen.
Payne shared the news on Instagram and briefly chronicled his journey, where he has portrayed "an apprentice jockey, an apocalyptic ninja and an emotionally scarred FBI profiler." All of these roles saw him portray Americans, but he has three upcoming roles where he will play British roles. In 2020, Payne married model and singer/songwriter Jennifer Åkerman, and they now have a child.

On March 8, 2024, Payne will star in the upcoming supernatural horror Imaginary. Directed by Jeff Wadlow, who co-wrote the film with Greg Erb, Jason Oremland, and Bryce McGuire, the film is produced by Wadlow and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions. The movie follows a woman who moves back into her childhood home and is reunited with a stuffed bear, Chauncey, who was always her companion. When her stepdaughter becomes attached to the bear, strange things begin to occur, including a drastic change in her behavior. This is when the mother realizes her childhood toy is something much more sinister.
Payne also stars in Kevin Costner's latest western project, Horizon: An American Saga, a two-part film releasing in June and August 2024. Costner stars, directs, and co-wrote the story with Jon Baird that is set in the pre-and post-Civil War era and spans 15 years. Walking Dead's Michael Rooker also stars in the films.
