Walking Dead's Dan Fogler cast in Benedict Cumberbatch’s new Netflix series, Eric

The six-part limited series, Eric, is coming to Netflix on May 30, 2024. The series stars Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch and was created by Emmy winner Abi Morgan that is a thriller inspired by true events. Walking Dead's Dan Fogler also appears in the series.

Cumberbatch portrays Vincent, a father who is desperate to bring home his missing son, Edgar. Set in the 80s on the streets of New York, Vincent is a head puppeteer on a popular children's series, Good Day Sunshine. When his son goes missing on his way to school, Vincent's world unravels.

Harboring much guilt over his son's disappearance, Vincent becomes volatile, full of self-loathing, and obsessed with a drawing Edger made of a blue monster named Eric. He is then struck with the idea that if he can Eric on his TV show, Edgar will make his way home. His behavior becomes isolating as he pushes away his family, colleagues, and the detectives who try to find his son.

The movie also stars Gabby Hoffmann as Vincent's wife, Cassie, McKinley Belcher III as lead detective Ledroit, and Ivan Howe as Edgar. Additional cast members include Clarke Peters, Phoebe Nicholls, David Denman, Bamar Kane, Adepero Odyue, Alexis Molnar, and Roberta Colindrez. According to Variety, Fogler portrays Lennie Wilson who is Vincent's best friend, colleague, and brilliant puppeteer and maker in his own right. Lennie has a special bond with Edgar, who frequently visited the set of Good Day Sunshine before his disappearance.

The series is directed by Lucy Forbes, who is known for This Is Going To Hurt and The End of the F***ing World. Forbes, along with Morgan and Cumberbatch, serve as executive producers.

Eric premieres on May 30, 2024, only on Netflix.
