"Heroes aren't born; they're raised" is the clever tagline for the Danny Trejo-led undead indie thriller from Rebellium Seven Cemeteries. The movie also stars Lew Temple and Vincent M. Ward, well known for their roles as part of the group of prisoners in The Walking Dead's third season.

John Gulager, known for his work in the Feast trilogy of films Piranha 3DD, Zombie Night, and more, has directed the brand-new horror Seven Cemeteries, which throws in some supernatural elements for good measure. Gulager co-wrote the story with Joel Soisson, who also wrote Dracula 2000, Hellraiser: Hellworld, and Children of the Corn: Runaway, which Gulager also directed. The story follows a recent parolee who enlists the aid of a Mexican witch to resurrect his old crew to save a woman from a ruthless drug lord.

Legendary Bravo is released from prison after 28 years. He receives a note about work on a ranch with no questions asked. He soon discovers that he was called upon to protect the owners of a ranch, who are threatened by the fearsome drug lord, Abuelo, who has local law enforcement on his side. After being shot, he is healed by a witch who instructs him in the ways of raising people from the dead. He uses his newfound knowledge to resurrect an army of the dead comprised of his former crew members.

Trejo portrays Bravo, the leader of the crew, with Maria Canals-Barrera as Bruja. Additional cast includes Efren Ramirez as Miquel, Lew Temple as Tommy Lasorda, Vincent M. Ward as Eugene, Richard Esteras as Quasimodo, Emma Ramos as Dolores, Samantha Ashley as Carmela, and Sal Lopez as the drug lord Abuelo. If you closely watch the trailer (below), you can glimpse another Walking Dead alum, Noel G.

Below is the official trailer for Seven Cemeteries, which debuts simultaneously in theaters and VOD beginning October 11. You can find the list of theaters in Ward's Instagram post. The movie is the perfect mix of undead fun, horror, action, and thrills, ideal for the Halloween season binge.

Ward shared an amazing BTS image of the crew! Actress Emma Ramos shared a reel on Instagram of filming footage that is worth a look.
