Watch Fear the Walking Dead actor in Netflix Greek Mythology black comedy KAOS
By Renee Hansen
The highly anticipated dark comedy KAOS was finally released on Netflix on August 29. In a reimagining of Greek Mythology, the series showcases Greek gods as never seen before portrayed by an ensemble cast.
Soon after its release, the series quickly climbed the Netflix Top 10 Shows list, currently sitting at No. 3. The series has a 69% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 80% on the Popcornmeter.
The series was created by Charlie Covell, known for the BAFTA winning YA series, The End of the F**ing World. The series is directed by Georgi Banks-Davies and Runyararo Mapfumo, and produced by Harry Munday. Covell wrote seven of the eight episode, with the sixth written by Georgia Christou. Jane Featherstone, Chris Fry, Katie Carpenter, Banks-Davies, Nine Lederman, Tanya Seghatchian, and John Woodward serve as executive producers.
Jeff Goldblum leads the series as Zeus, the powerful, although somewhat insecure god, who upon the discovery of his first wrinkle, believes that is a sign of the beginning of the end for his time as ruler of all. While the wrinkle isn't the cause, his time may be coming to and end as his former friend Prometheus, portrayed by Stephen Dillane, is plotting a take over. Three mortals, unaware of their cosmic significance, will play a key role in saving the world.
Fear the Walking Dead's Cliff Curtis, who is also well known for his roles in James Cameron's series of Avatar and The Meg movie and its sequel, portrays god of sea, storm, earthquakes, and horses, Poseidon. This time the god is reworked as a supervillain whose ideals often clash with those of his brothers, Zeus and Hades, played by David Thewlis. He would rather travel the seas in his super-yacht than tend to his responsibilities.
Janet McTeer portrayes Zeus ever scheming wife Hera with Nabhaan Rizwan as his rebelious son Dionysus. Additional cast includes Killian Scott as Orpheus, Aurora Perrineau as Riddy, Misia Butler as Caneus, Leila Farzad as Ari, Rakie Ayola as Persephone, and Stanley Townsend as Minos. Billie Piper and Suzy Eddie Izzard appear in cameo roles.
