Actor Jon Bernthal has some impressive credits to his name since starring as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead during seasons 1 and 2. One role that took place several years after leaving TWD is that of Brax Wolff in The Accountant.

Directed by Gavin O'Connor, known for Miracle and Warrior, The Accountant was written by Bill Dubuque, known for his work on Ozark. The story follows an autistic CPA, Christian Wolff, who has made a career of "un-cooking" the books for criminal and terrorist organizations. The accounting firm poses as his front for his underhanded dealings of which US Treasury Agent Ray Kang (J.K. Simmons) becomes aware.

The movie stars Ben Affleck as Christian with Jon Bernthal as his brother Brax. Additional cast includes Anna Kendrick, J. K. Simmons, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Lithgow.

The Accountant originally received mixed reviews and grossed $155 million worldwide. The following year, it became the most-rented digital film, and because of its success, it has resulted in a sequel that begins filming in 2024. The majority of the original cast has been reported as appearing in the new movie, with O'Connor and Dubuque returning for the sequel as director and writer, respectively. The second movie is expected to be released in 2025.

In a 2021 interview with Cinemablend, O'Connor confirmed the sequel, teased a possible third film, and added that Bernthal's Brax will see more screen time in the sequel.

"Yeah. Yeah. So, I've always wanted to do three because what, the second one's going to be more with -- we're going to integrate his brother into the story. So there'll be more screen time for Bernthal in the second one. And then the third movie’s going to be, I call it, ‘Rain Man on steroids.’ The third movie is going to be the two brothers, this odd couple. The third one is going be a buddy picture."
