Who is Craig Tate who plays Lt. Col. Donald Okafor in The Ones Who Live?

Actor Craig Tate joined The Walking Dead universe, starring in the sixth spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Tate portrayed Lt. Col. Donald Okafor of the Civic Republic Military (CRM). As a military leader, he quickly recognized leadership abilities in Rick (Andrew Lincoln).

Before the outbreak, Okafor was a member of the US Air Force and, after, was involved in Operation Cobolt, who led the bombings of Atlanta and Los Angeles. He saved Philadelphia by instead bombing the Lincoln Financial Field, which was the location that held 4,000 Marines, including his wife Estelle, who were to move on to Philadelphia after it was bombed. This allowed many people to survive and prevent the city from being destroyed.

Okafor was introduced in the first episode of The Ones Who Live, where it was shown that he saw leadership potential in Rick and his co-worker Pearl Thorne (Lesley-Ann Brandt), a former South African Naval woman. He encouraged them to join the training to become a member of the Civic Republic Military and then gave them intel on the organization, believing they could make positive changes within.

Sadly, Okafor was killed in that episode but not before he could impart some wisdom to Rick.

"It's been a good year. I know you're the right thing for this force, Rick. I know you're the right thing for this plan. No more A's and B's. No more Omahas. You know, I'm gonna be perfectly honest. I still don't know how it's all gonna work out, so... I'll tell you one more secret. When you get to that point swear on the sword. Don't let it take. You'll know. Trust me. You'll know."

What has Craig Tate starred in?

Most recently Tate can be seen in I'm a Virgo that streams on Prime Video. He also stars in Hostile Territory, Black as Night, King Richard, and Greyhound.

He is also known for his role as Earl in the crime drama Reprisal and as Lenny in season 1 of Snowfall, which also stars Walking Dead's Kevin Carroll (Virgil) and Juan Javier Cardenas (Dante). Both of these series air on Hulu.
