As the legendary Walking Dead franchise celebrates its 15th anniversary, it can actually do so as a current property due to its multiple ongoing spinoffs. One has been airing episodes in recent months, with The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon showcasing two of the TWD franchise's most beloved characters in a completely different environment. And it will look to do so at least one more time in the coming year.
Daryl Dixon's third season has seen Daryl and Carol end up in Spain. It was an unexpected twist, for the pair had left France in the hopes of returning home to America. But a quick stop in London and a shipwrecked boat later, and they found themselves at Solaz del Mar - a beautiful Spanish village under threat from an alliance with El Alcazar.
With its season finale upon us, you might wonder what's next for the TWD Universe, but the good news is that it's only the beginning, as Daryl Dixon has another season in it.
Daryl Dixon season 4 is happening (and it's currently filming)
Fear not, TWD fans: Daryl and Carol's European adventure is not over. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has been renewed by AMC for a fourth and final season. The announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con, as creator David Zabel and AMC's Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe Scott Gimple reflected on the decision to end the show with four seasons, feeling that it was simply time for this particular story to end.
Zabel described season 4 as "the last iteration of this show", adding that it will "complete the story of Daryl and Carol in Spain". Yes, that means that their Spanish adventure isn't over just yet. And in case you weren't sure about that being true or not, production on the fourth season is underway right now in Madrid, as Zabel, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and everyone involved in this gripping series is focused on bringing it to a close in a fulfilling way.

It's also important to note that all involved have pointed out that the Daryl Dixon season 4 finale will simply bring this story to a close - not necessarily Daryl and Carol's journey in the entire TWD Universe. And considering that fans are hopeful to see them reunite with Rick and Michonne in a potential crossover at some point - that's a very good thing.
The fourth season will seemingly be focused on bringing the beloved duo back home, likely tying up any of the loose plot threads left over from season 3 along the way. We know that they are still in Spain and this season will seemingly set their goodbye to the country in motion. The question is: Will they get back home and reunite with Rick and Michonne.
When to expect Daryl Dixon season 4
Although AMC has yet to provide audiences with a specific release window, we can assume that Daryl Dixon season 4 will premiere in fall 2026. Given that all three of the previous seasons have premiered in September on both AMC and AMC+, there's a pretty strong possibility that it will do so again - especially considering that it is currently filming (meaning that it would likely be ready for September 2026).

Daryl Dixon is one of the few shows of the streaming era where it has been able to produce annual releases, reminding us of all when the original TWD series was still on the air. Even fellow spinoff Dead City was subjected to a ridiculously long wait between its first and second seasons. The good news is that this won't be the case time around for the Maggie and Negan series either, as its upcoming third season is currently in production in Boston - meaning that it too will likely have a 2026 premiere date.
Irrespective of when exactly Daryl Dixon season 4 arrives on our screens, you can bet fans will be tuning in. The final season will be a bit longer too, as it will have a super-sized selection of eight episodes (yes, eight!). It's going to be great to see the TWD Universe's lone wolf and Carol back in their badassery ways at least one more time.
All seven episodes of The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon season 3 are now available to stream on AMC+.
