Throughout the years, audiences have met many characters in the world of The Walking Dead, and most have either bitten the dust or turned into walkers and bitten someone else. However, a handful of survivors have surpassed every challenge that has crossed their path, and Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier are among them. The iconic duo even crossed the seas and found themselves in Europe during the events of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. But while their adventures have transcended barriers, countries, and languages, it's nearly time to bid our farewells.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 is nearly upon us and will serve as the final chapter of the beloved spin-off. There's a lot of anticipation for the series' finale, and fans are eager to discover whether Daryl and Carol finally make it back home before the credits roll on the final episode. However, AMC did its best to keep most secrets under wraps until the right time came, and such a day is finally here.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 took over the spotlight at New York Comic-Con
It's finally that time of year again. New York Comic-Con is home to some of the biggest announcements across multiple franchises and IPs. AMC attended the event and hosted a "Spotlight" presentation that featured sneak peeks at many upcoming shows, including The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4. At long last, the curtain has been lifted on this anticipated post-apocalyptic project.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 4 was originally intended to be released in 2026, after The Walking Dead: Dead City. Unfortunately, an unexpected delay pushed the final season back to an unspecified date in 2027. But after months of speculating about when Daryl and Carol would take over the small screen, it is finally official. The two survivors will be back for one last ride in February 2027.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the evening was Norman Reedus himself attending, as the star initially wasn't advertised for the event. But he made a surprise appearance, with the audience losing their minds as he and Melissa McBride took to the stage. He also reveals that the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be a sad one as the pair look for something to call home.
Attendees at the AMC+ Spotlight panel also got to witness footage from the fourth season. Unfortunately, the sneak peek wasn't published online for everyone to see, but we have a description of what was shown. Within the footage, there are scenes of new, terrifyingly fast walkers. Showrunner David Zabel also confirmed that Genet's variant of the walkers will return, meaning that the mutation she started in France has spread into Spain.
Speaking of threats, Zabel also confirmed that Los Primitivos will return as a much bigger force in the upcoming final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which does make sense considering that season 3 only scratched the surface of what they are capable of.
Melissa McBride then spoke about what fans can expect from the show's final season, becoming emotional as she told them that it's a powerful installment, praising Reedus' performance and thanking the fans for all that they have given to these characters over the years.
To round the panel out, the first teaser trailer for Daryl Dixon season 4 was unveiled, showcasing the pair's entire TWD journey. You can watch it below:
Needless to say, it looks like it's going to be an incredibly emotional farewell to the legendary Walking Dead spinoff. We are not ready for it!
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4 premieres on AMC and AMC+ in February 2027.
