After a year off the air, The Walking Dead: Dead City is about to rise from the ground and haunt audiences worldwide in the best way possible. It isn't a secret that the second season of The Walking Dead spin-off show was met with mixed reactions from fans and critics alike, but early reviews of the upcoming batch of episodes are nothing short of stellar. Life in the post-apocalyptic world has never looked better... even if the situation is a bit dire at the moment.
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 culminated with Maggie and Negan not being on good terms after the former stabbed the latter. Furthermore, Hershel seemingly chose to betray his family in favor of a place right next to the Dama. To make matters worse, the New Babylon Federation started to take over Manhattan and the methane tanks capable of generating electricity to power entire cities. There are many pieces on the board, and it won't be long before we discover what the next move is.
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 episode 1 release date and time by time zone
Mark your calendars, because The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 is finally upon us. The first episode, titled "Trillium," premieres simultaneously on AMC and AMC+ on Jul. 26, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET. This marks a departure from AMC's usual release strategy for other series (such as Interview with the Vampire), in which AMC+ typically gets an early release. With that in mind, fans won't have to worry about spoilers being on the loose earlier than intended (and if these plans change, we'll make sure to update the post accordingly).
Here are the release / start times for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 episode 1 on AMC and AMC+ in different time zones and regions:
- Hawaii: 3:00 p.m. HST on Sunday, July 26
- Alaska: 5:00 p.m. AKDT on Sunday, July 26
- West Coast of the US: 6:00 p.m. PT on Sunday, July 26

What to expect in the season 3 premiere of The Walking Dead: Dead City
Throughout the first two seasons of The Walking Dead: Dead City, we've seen Maggie and Negan go from being on "decent" terms to turning into enemies, later partners, and then back to nearly killing each other once more. Their relationship has been anything but stable, and this is bound to change soon.
Perhaps one of the biggest changes in The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 is that Maggie and Negan will finally become full-time allies and attempt to lead their own group of survivors through a post-apocalyptic world infested with walkers. However, the two weren't exactly on good terms the last time we saw them, so the opening episode has some ground to cover to take them from "Maggie just stabbed Negan" to "the two are partners now."

It will also be interesting to see what will happen between Maggie and her son, Hershel. After all, he decided to side with the Dama to build a new world during the events of season 2. Will he turn into an antagonistic figure moving forward? Or will something bad happen between him and the Dama, and if so, what will it be?
We also know newcomers Luis and Renata are bound to play a big role in The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3, and audiences could get to meet them and learn their backstories in the very first episode of season 3. Of course, there's always the chance that their past will be better explained in episode 2, as the TV series still wraps up some loose ends from its previous season. But regardless of the situation, it appears we're bound to meet some friendly faces for a change.
Another big unknown is what will happen with the Croat. Season 2 set his character up for a bit of a revenge arc against the Dama, and since he has a pre-established relationship with Negan and got to spend a lot of time with Maggie, there could be a small chance that he finally becomes one of the good guys. Then again, the Croat tends to be very unpredictable, so it wouldn't be surprising to learn that he will remain an antagonistic character moving forward. On the bright side, it won't be long before we finally figure out what surprises lie in store.
The premiere episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 will be released on Jul. 26, 2026.
