It goes without saying that The Walking Dead has produced plenty of iconic characters throughout its 11-season run. We've fallen in love with Daryl Dixon, Carol Peletier, Maggie and Glenn Rhee, Hershel Greene and Beth throughout the seasons, and even the new spinoff shows set in the TWD Universe have begun to offer up some of their own memorable personalities. However, one of the most formidable duos in the franchise consists of two of the most formidable characters. We are, of course, talking about Rick Grimes and Michonne.
Andrew Lincoln will always be associated with the TWD franchise (as the face it) of due to how popular and prominent Rick was in those early seasons, and even when he left the show after nine seasons fans still considered his return inevitable. The same could be said for Danai Gurira's Michonne, who made her presence felt in the season 2 finale (Michonne debuted in the finale but Gurira portrayed her from season 3 onwards) and instantly became a big part of the show.
Fans are once again asking the question of when - or if - Rick and Michonne will return to the TWD Universe after the success of their long-awaited spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. However, as we ponder the question, the duo will be making their presence felt in another project entirely - one that they might find themselves very much at home in.
TWD's Rick and Michonne are coming to Dead by Daylight
You read that right: A pair who know a thing or two about surviving are set to join Dead by Daylight as The Walking Dead's Rick and Michonne are on their way to the survival game as playable Survivors! Only when writing about a post-apocalyptic franchise would you get away with using three variations of "survive" in the same sentence, especially when you're talking about two post-apocalyptic franchises! And this duo are now doubt set to make their presence felt in a big way!
According to the official Dead by Daylight website, Rick will include 3 unique perks. The first of them will be "Apocalyptic Ingenuity", allowing players to draw on the former sheriff's ability to survive in The Walking Dead, which will actively allow him to construct a Fragile Pallet from the remnants of a Broken Pallet. The second will be "Come And Get Me!", which allows users to use Rick's selfless ability to put himself in harm's way to protect any teammates, offering up himself as a distraction to the enemies. And the third is "Teamwork: Toughen Up" - a perk designed specifically for teams, it can allow you to physically heal up, reducing injuries whenever another nearby Survivor stuns or blinds the killer.

Michonne also comes with three perks and one of them is designed specifically to complement Rick's third. Titled "Teamwork: Throw Down", it provides Endurance to nearby injured Survivors while also offering you the chance to briefly glimpse the Killer's aura as well. The next one is "Conviction", which is based after Michonne's own willingness to keep going, but it's also a tale of two halves as the website states:
"Heal a Survivor to gain a life-saving Ability, allowing you to instantly recover from the Downed State, provided you’ve built up a decent chunk of recovery time. The catch is, you’ll become Broken and go back into the Dying State after a brief duration – but this crucial window is invaluable to get healed up and turn the tables back in your favour."
As for the third? Well, that's "Last Stand", which sees your fast vault stun the Killer (after spending enough time in the Killer's Terror Radius), ultimately giving you a chance to escape. The only downside is that it can only be used once as it will be disabled for the rest of the trial after that single use.
The site also points out that, while Dead by Daylight: The Walking Dead is available in the Player Test Build right now, a glitch is preventing Michonne from being playable (although users can still test her three Perks). The full chapter will be released on July 29.
Needless to say that this is a must for fans of The Walking Dead franchise and will no doubt keep all of the "Richonne" fans happy until they get updates about where the TWD power couple might pop up next. After the pair headlined The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live last year, audiences were hoping for more adventures from them in a second season. It has since been confirmed that there won't be a second season (for now at least), but there is still hope for them to return to another TWD project as the TWD Universe continues to expand with fellow spinoffs Dead City and Daryl Dixon - both of which are returning for third seasons.
In the meantime, Rick and Michonne set their sights on Dead by Daylight.
