The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira did an incredible job in her portrayal of the katana-wielding Michonne. To the delight of her fans, she reprised this role in 2024 in the spinoff series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Gurira has secured her next role, which reunites her with one of her Black Panther co-stars.

Guirira and Michael B. Jordan, both actors who co-starred in Black Panther, have been announced for the upcoming reimagining of Norman Jewison's 1968 heist film, The Thomas Crown Affair, starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. This film inspired John McTiernan's 1999 film of the same name starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.

Academy Award-winning actor Kenneth Branagh, Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone, and Taylor Russell have also been announced as cast members for the new film which is slated to release on March 5, 2027.

The original movie follows an adrenaline junkie millionaire who, out of boredom, stages the robbery of a Boston bank. An independent investigator is hired to find the mastermind, which leads to a cat-and-mouse chase that eventually results in the two becoming romantically linked. The 1999 remake features a billionaire who steals a priceless Monet from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and he ultimately becomes involved with the insurance investigator.

Jordan will star, direct, and produce the new thriller under his Outlier Society Banner with Elizabeth Raposo and Atlas Entertainment's Charles Roven. The latest film is reported to be set in Europe and follow the art thief theme, with Jordan as Crown, Russell as a private detective, and Gurira as Crown's confidante.

In 2024, Michonne fans were delighted to see the actress reprising her role in the spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The six-part limited series focused on the epic love story of Rick and Michonne. The entire series can be viewed on Netflix.
