Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are back on the small screen and, for the first time in ages, there seems to be a very promising future ahead of them. After years of fighting each other, facing off against the New Babylon Federation, and having to survive the Dama's twisted plans, Maggie and Negan have been presented with the opportunity to start from zero after meeting a friendly new group of survivors. However, the tale of The Walking Dead: Dead City is far from over.

Episode 1 of The Walking Dead spin-off show culminated with an unsettling revelation: the Dama isn't done causing chaos in the post-apocalyptic world. Just when we thought Maggie and Hershel could (finally) be on good terms, their relationship could very well be put to the test once again thanks to the Dama's return. Furthermore, we can't imagine that Negan will be too pleased to come face-to-face with the woman who once held him hostage for weeks. On the bright side, it won't be long before we find out how this horrifying play unfolds.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 episode 2 release date and time by time zone

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 is finally in full swing. Episode 2, titled "Haven", will air on AMC in the US on Sunday, August 2, at 9:00 p.m ET / PT. However, it's worth pointing out that the first episode of the season dropped even earlier on AMC+, and we can imagine a similar scenario will be in store for its follow-up. So, expect episode 2 to be released on the streaming platform at 12:00 a.m. PT in all time zones.

With that in mind, here is when you can expect The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 episode 2 to release on AMC+ in your respective time zone:

  • Hawaii: 9:00 p.m. HST on Saturday, August 1
  • Alaska: 11:00 p.m. AKDT on Saturday, August 1
  • West Coast of the US: 12:00 a.m. PT on Sunday, August 2
  • Mountain Time: 1:00 a.m. MT on Sunday, August 2
  • Midwest of the US: 2:00 a.m. CT on Sunday, August 2

What to expect in the second episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3

Perhaps the biggest clue of what to expect from The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3, episode 2, comes courtesy of its title, "Haven." After weeks of wandering around the island of Manhattan without a single home shelter, Maggie has finally found a safe place she can lead alongside newcomer Renata (Aimee Garcia). As such, it isn't far-fetched to assume that we are about to explore this space in depth, what it has to offer, and which characters live there.

Of course, the cliffhanger of the previous episode was all about the Dama and the fact that she is starting to recruit an army once again (this time, from scratch). With the Croat out of the picture to make her life much easier, it will be interesting to see how she plans to get back to the top of the game and gain control over Manhattan and the few remaining methane containers.

In terms of character relationships, we should see more of Negan and Mason Dillard (Jimmi Simpson). The two seemed to hit it off pretty well in the premiere, and we can only expect their chemistry to grow as more episodes go by.

Of course, it's also important to remember that Negan and Maggie aren't exactly "partners" yet. While the two are certainly on good terms (at long last), it seems Maggie is keen on co-leading the new group of survivors in the hospital, while Negan crashes at Dillard's bar. So, we're bound to see more development between these two characters and their post-apocalyptic survival plans.

The second episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 will be released on Aug. 2, 2026.
