Actress Alexandra Breckenridge is best known for her role as Mel in the Netflix original series Virgin River, which premiered its sixth season in Dec. 2024. The series was renewed for a seventh, making it the steamer's longest-running current original scripted series and the longest-running English-language drama series.
Patrick Sean Smith serves as showrunner for the romantic drama series based on Robyn Carr's Virgin River novels. The sixth season consists of 10 episodes that Smith says will be all about the lead-up to the nuptials of Mel (Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson). Viewers will follow the couple and their pre-wedding planning, bachelor and bachelorette parties, suit and dress shopping, the rehearsal dinner, and more.
The season picks up soon after the intense events of season 5, which featured the couple purchasing Lilly's (Lynda Boyd) farm, which they plan to remake into their dream home. Smith has stated that he wants this season to feel lighter than the last.

Breckenridge and Henderson return as do the following cast members: Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Mark Ghanimé, Kai Bradbury, and Kandyse McClure.
Several fan-favorite characters will follow new directions in the new season and past favorites will make a surprising return to the story.
Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Callum Kerr (ONE PIECE) join the cast as young Sarah and Everett, Mel's parents. Their love story will be told via flashbacks to the 1970s. Sarah is a free spirit with a passion for activism. Everett, played in the present day story by John Allen Nelson, is a "freewheeling song-writer with a poet's soul."
All 10 episodes of season 6 of Virgin River are now available to stream on Netflix.
