Walking Dead actor will appear in season 2 of AMC's Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches

The series is based on Anne Rice's novels and season 2 premiered on on Jan. 5.

The second season of AMC's original series Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches premiered in Jan. 2025. The series is a supernatural horror based on Anne Rice's novel trilogy, Lives of the Mayfair Witches. On Feb. 16, the sixth episode of the eight-part season "Michaelmas" will premiere, and Walking Dead fans will see a familiar face.

The upcoming episode will feature an appearance by Walking Dead's Callan McAuliffe, who portrayed Alden during seasons 8-11. McAuliffe, who is known for his role in The Duel, will portray Abel Mayfair and was announced for season 2 with Franka Potenta (Run Lola Run, The Bourne Identity) as Annamieke and Ian Pirie (Halo, The English) in the role of Ian Mayfair.

Mayfair Witches was created by Esta Spalding (Lost August) and Michelle Ashford (The Pacific) for AMC. The story is set in the Immortal Universe, which also includes Rice's Interview with a Vampire. The series is executive produced by Mark Johnson, showrunner Esta Spalding, Tom Williams, Michelle Ashford, and Christopher Rice.

According to AMC, the story follows neurosurgeon Dr. Rowan Fielding who is the heiress to a dynasty of powerful witches haunted by a sinister spirit.

The main cast consists of Alexandra Daddario, Harry Hamlin, Tongayi Chirisa, and Alyssa Jirrels. Additional new cast members for season 2 include Ben Feldman as Sam Larkin, Ted Levine as Julien Mayfair, and Thora Birch as Gifford Mayfair. Birch also starred in The Walking Dead.

Mayfair Witches season 2 airs exclusively on AMC and AMC+. If you missed out on season 1, it is currently streaming on Netflix as part of an overall deal between AMC and the streamer.

Callan McAuliffe - other roles

In 2022, McAuliffe served as the narrator for Apple TV's military documentary, Bomber: Terror of WWII. He also appeared in one episode of ABC's Big Sky crime drama that streams on Hulu and stars Reba McEntire.

Recently he appeared alongside Dylan Sprouse and Patrick Warbuton in The Duel that streams on Tubi. The story follows Woody (McAuliffe) who discovers his best friend and girlfriend are sleeping together and challenges his friend to a duel.
