Walking Dead's Steven Yeun cast in Zellner Brother's alien invasion comedy Alpha Gang

Variety reports that Oscar Nominee and Golden Globe and Emmy-winning Steven Yeun was announced along with Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Zoë Kravitz, Léa Seydoux, Riley Keough, and Channing Tatum for the Zellner Brothers alien comedy Alpha Gang. This impressive list joins previously announced two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, who also produces.
The story follows a group of alien's sent to invade Earth. They come disguised in human form as a 1950s leather clad bikers known as the Alpha Gang. The group focuses on their mission but eventually succumb to the most toxic human condition, emotions.
The Zellner brothers are well known for their recent Sundance sensation Sasquatch Sunset, an adventure comedy that follows a family of Sasquatch for a year. The movie stars Riley Keough , Jesse Eisenberg , Christophe Zajac-Denek , and Nathan Zellner, which is available on Prime Video. Cinematographer Mike Gioulakis will film the movie; he is well known for his work with Jordan Peele, M. Night Shyamalan, and Zellner's Sasquatch Sunset.
Alien Gang is expected to begin filming in Spring 2025.
Steven Yeun best known and recent roles
Yeun made a name for himself starring in The Walking Dead as mild-mannered Glenn Rhee, a role he played from the first season until his death during the season 7 premiere episode. His character's brutal death turned many people away from the series. In 2021, he became the voice of Mark Grayson/Invincible in Robert Kirkman's adult animated Invincible, a role he has continued into the series' fourth season.
He became the first Asian American actor nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Minari. He has also been given high praise for his performance in the thriller Burning. Yeun starred alongside Ali Wong in the Netflix original series Beef, for which he won two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.
In 2024, he starred with Kristen Stewart in Sam and Andy Zuchero in their feature directorial debut, Love Me. This post-apocalyptic romance movie follows the story of a buoy and a satellite who meet online and fall in love after civilization has been destroyed. It is told through the eyes of artificial intelligence.
Next, Yeun will star in Bong Joon-ho's sci-fi black comedy Mickey7, that is based on Edward Ashton's novel. The movie also stars Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Mickey7 will premiere in South Korea on Jan. 28, 2025 and in the US on Jan. 31.
