Ever go to check a favorite celebrity’s profile only to find it’s completely gone? That’s the collective shock The Walking Dead fandom just felt. One of the show’s biggest stars has suddenly disappeared from social media, and the internet is already spiraling with theories.

Is it a break, a reset, or just the need for a little peace and quiet away from the spotlight? Whatever the reason, the unexpected move has fans both curious and concerned. Norman Reedus, who is best known for playing Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead and its spinoff series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, is the actor who has chosen to step away from social media. One of his fan pages on X was the first to notice that his Instagram account was no longer active.

Reedus's handle on Instagram is @bigbaldhead. If you check out his profile now, you'll quickly notice that his account is currently unavailable. Unfortunately, it's unclear whether he has temporarily deactivated his page or permanently deleted it. However, fans are now left wondering what prompted the sudden disappearance.

Many are speculating that his deactivation is related to his son's recent arrest. Mingus Reedus, 25, the son of Norman Reedus and model Helena Christensen, was recently taken into custody and charged in connection with an alleged assault that occurred in a New York City apartment on Saturday, Aug. 23.

According to NBC News, police arrived at an apartment building in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood at 8:40 a.m. on Aug. 23, where they discovered a 33-year-old woman who had “minor injuries” to her neck and leg. She was then transported to Bellevue Hospital, and Mingus was taken into custody. This isn't the first time Mingus has faced legal trouble either.

In 2022, he accepted a plea deal after being accused of assaulting a woman at New York City’s San Gennaro festival. That incident reportedly stemmed from a verbal argument, which Mingus described as an accident after he said he and his friends were surrounded by the other party.

While there's no confirmation that this new arrest is linked to Reedus's decision to step away from social media, the timing is definitely raising eyebrows among fans. Maybe he needed some space to focus on his family and personal life without the added pressure of the public eye. Regardless of the reason, supporters are showing understanding and hoping he’ll return online when he feels ready.

Reedus will return as Daryl in the third season of Daryl Dixon, which is set to premiere on AMC on Sept. 7.
