Netflix just announced a new thriller series that will be creeping onto its platform next year, and it stars a Walking Dead fan-favorite. Although this beloved actor didn't last on the zombie series for long, they made such an impact that fans still talk about their unforgettable performance to this day. Now, they’re returning in a completely different kind of role, trading the chaos of the apocalypse for a twisty psychological thriller.
No, it's not Andrew Lincoln, though we'd love to see him finally make his Netflix debut. It's another talented actor who's been in their fair share of Netflix projects. Maybe you recall them tackling the role of Marvel’s infamous antihero, The Punisher, on the previous Netflix original series The Punisher. Or perhaps you might have watched them star alongside Sandra Bullock in the Netflix psychological drama The Unforgivable. You probably know who we're talking about by now. It's none other than Jon Bernthal, who Walking Dead fans will remember for his portrayal as the morally complex character, Shane.
Walking Dead actor Jon Bernthal joins His & Hers on Netflix

We first learned of this project back in 2020, when it was announced that Jessica Chastain, Kristen Campo, and Endeavor Content secured the television rights to Alice Feeney's 2020 thriller novel His & Hers. We would find out later in 2024 that the television series adaptation would be made for Netflix and that it would star not only Bernthal, but also Tessa Thompson (Creed movies, The Marvels) and Pablo Schreiber (Halo, Candy). More and more details started coming out over time.
Fifth Season serves as the studio behind His & Hers. Dee Johnson, known for producing Fellow Travelers, serves as the showrunner, executive producer, and writer. William Oldroyd helmed the first episode and is also signed on as an executive producer and writer. In addition, Bill Dubuque contributes to the series as both a writer and executive producer. Other executive producers include Thompson, Campo, Chastain, Kelly Carmichael, and Kishori Rajan.
His & Hers is billed as a limited series, meaning it has a set number of episodes with a contained story arc. In other words, it will not have an ongoing multi-season run. Instead, it will only consist of one season that tells a complete story. The series will consist of six episodes, making it easy to binge-watch in one sitting.
The story takes place in Georgia. A woman named Anna has retreated from the world, withdrawing from her friends and her career as a news anchor. But everything changes when she catches wind of a murder in Dahlonega, the quiet North Georgia town where she grew up. Suddenly, Anna is pulled back into action, determined to uncover the truth behind the crime. Meanwhile, Detective Jack Harper grows increasingly wary of her involvement, putting her squarely in the path of his own investigation.
Bernthal stars as one of the leads, Detective Jack Harper, while Thompson takes on the other lead role as Anna. Schreiber plays a character named Richard. Also in the cast are Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Marin Ireland, and others.
