Fans of Andrew Lincoln long for the day when he will return to The Walking Dead universe on a regular basis. But sadly, this may never come to be. In the fall of 2025, Lincoln will return to the stage in a revival of Henrik Ibsen’s The Lady from the Sea.
The production is directed by Simon Stone, who is known for Yerma and Phaedra. Lincoln has been announced to star alongside Oscar-winning Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who is known for her roles in The Danish Girl, Ex Machina, and the 2018 Tomb Raider remake. Lincoln portrays Edward, a well-off doctor, who is married to a young woman named Ellida (Vikander), who longs to break away from their predictable life. When a past lover revisits her, she must decide between the comfortable life with Edward or pursue the life she left long ago.
The Lady from the Sea will be featured at the Bridge Theatre in London from September 10 to November 8, 2025. The performance schedule is as follows: Monday – Saturday at 7:30 pm

Andrew Lincoln new series, Cold Water
Next, Lincoln will star in the ITV thriller, Cold Water, which is created by award-winning playwright David Ireland. The series is produced by the British free-to-air TV network Sister for ITV, aka Channel 3. This is Lincoln's long-awaited return to British TV, where he will also serve as an executive producer with Lee Haven Jones (Passenger, Ruth, Doctor Who) as director of the first three episodes.
Lincoln is joined by fellow cast mates Ewen Bremner (Our Flag Means Death, Trainspotting), Indira Varma (Obsession, Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Eve Myles (Hijack, Keeping Faith).
Lincoln portrays John, a middle-aged man dissatisfied with his life as a stay-at-home dad. After a violent playground altercation, John moves his family to the fictional Scottish village of Coldwater, far from their previous residence in London. There, he befriends his neighbor Tommy (Bremmer), a devoted husband married to Rebecca (Myles), the local vicar. Fiona (Varma), John's wife, is far from impressed with Tommy and is displeased with the friendship. But there is something that draws John to the man who is well-liked in his community and leads the local men's book club.
Cold Water will release on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player in the fall of 2025.
In 2023, Walking Dead fans were treated to Lincoln's return as Rick Grimes in the limited spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The six-part series focused on the epic love story of Rick and Michonne (Danai Gurira) and their mission to take down the CRM (Civic Republic Military). Fans are hopeful that Rick will return again in the near future.
