Level 33 Entertainment has announced a release date for a new Western romance, Where the Wind Blows. The heartfelt romance story will feature two actors from The Walking Dead universe.

Based on the USA Today best-selling author Caroline Fyffe's novel, the movie is directed by John Schimke (Red Table Talk, Don’t Tell Larry, A Hip-Hop Story), who wrote the script alongside Fyffe and Mike Maden. The director produces along with Eden Bryant, Brandon Smith, and Ashley Elaine, who also stars.

In 2024, Deadline announced that TWDU actors C. Thomas Howell and Michelle Hurd had been added to the cast of the Western romance. Howell, an '80s heartthrob, portrayed Hilltop resident Roy in TWD, and Hurd, wife of Fear the Walking Dead's Garret Dillahunt, appeared in season 1 of The Walking Dead: Dead City as Jones, the owner of the Easy Stay Motor Inn.

The movie is led by Trevor Donovan (Reagan, CMT’s Sun Records) and Ashley Elaine (Mayberry Man, Disciples in the Moonlight). Howell and Hurd joined additional cast members Lochlyn Munro (Freddy vs. Jason, Scary Movie), Rob Mayes (John Dies at the End, Lost & Found in Cleveland),  Colin Egglesfield (Something Borrowed, The Space Between Us), Don Swayze (All Saints Day, True Blood), and Cole Keriazakos (Pacific Rim: The Black).

Award-winning author Fyffe is known for her feisty heroines, bold heroes, and sweeping Western love stories. Where the Wind Blows, which was filmed in Montana, follows rugged cowboy Chase Logan (Donavan), who, after delivering devastating news to the wife of a friend (Elaine), finds his life drastically changed in only a few days.

Where the Wind Blows premieres in select theaters and on VOD beginning October 25.

Howell began his acting career in Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, as Tyler, a friend of Michael, the eldest brother in the Taylor family. He won a Young Artist Award for his performance as Ponyboy in Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 adaptation of S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders.

He is well known for his other early roles, including Tank (1984), Grandview, U.S.A. (1984), Secret Admirer (1985), The Hitcher (1986), and Red Dawn (1984), the first movie to be rated PG-13.
