Actress Embeth Davidtz is recognized for her roles in films such as Army of Darkness, Schindler's List, and Matilda, among others. Her soon-to-be-released directorial debut, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, premiered at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival and is receiving high critical praise. Davidtz has appeared in one of The Walking Dead spinoffs, but which one?

In 2022, AMC released the third spinoff of The Walking Dead, a six-part anthology series, Tales of the Walking Dead. This series features individual stories set in the same world as the main series, but features new characters in different locations throughout the United States. The concept for the series is fantastic, but some viewers were disappointed that more characters from the flagship series weren't featured.

Davidtz appeared in the fifth episode of Tales of TWD, "Davon," which was written by showrunner Channing Powell and directed by TWDU veteran Michael Satrazemis. This episode was described as a "noir-ish, fractured-memory thriller," set approximately 15 years after the original outbreak.

The story is told in fragmented flashbacks, requiring the viewer to pay close attention. It follows a young man who awakens with no memory of the events that led him to the place where he is being accused of murder by an angry mob.

The cast for the episode includes Davidtz as Amanda, Jessie T. Usher as Davon, Loan Chabanol as Nora, and Gage Munroe as Arnaud.

Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight

Davidtz's most recent project is her directorial debut, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, in which she also stars and produces. The story is based on the 2001 memoir from Alexandra Fuller that tells of a White Zimbabwean family during the final days of the Bush War, the Zimbabwean War for independence in 1980, in what was formerly known as Rhodesia.

Davidtz is joined by a cast of newcomers, including Lexi Venter, Zikhona Bali, Fumani N Shilubana, Rob Van Vuuren and Anina Hope Reed.

The story is told from the lens of 8-year-old Bobo (Venter), who looks at things very differently from the adults in her life. The movie shows the family's bond with Africa and the effects the war had on the area where they live.
