Actor David Morrissey is well remembered for his magnificent portrayal of The Walking Dead's Governor in seasons 3 and 4. The Governor is one of The Walking Dead's most vicious villains who met his end during the midseason finale of season 4. Morrissey is currently starring in a new crime drama, Sherwood.
The series is inspried by the actual story that occurred in the mining village of Nottinghamshire, where the community was shaken by two murders of trade unionist Keith Frogson and hairdresser Chanel Taylor in 2004. Created by James Graham, Sherwood follows DCS Ian St. Clair (Morrissey), who leads the investigation of the murders along with his former rival DI Kevin Salisbury (Robert Glenister).
The series also stars Downton Abbey actors Kevin Doyle and Joanne Froggatt with Lesley Manville, Claire Rushbrook, Lorraine Ashbourne, Phillip Jackson, Perry Fitzpatrick, Clare Holman, Terence Maynard, Andrea Lowe, Tina Louise Owens, John Alan, Roberts, Sajjad Nahavandi and Adele Akhtar.
Seasons 1 and 2 of the series consisted of six episodes each, and the series has received critical acclaim. In Sept. 2024, Sherwood was announced for a third season.
