Tovah Feldshuh Loves The Culture Of ‘The Walking Dead’

The Walking Dead added an established actress to their show when they brought in Tovah Feldshuh.  She was a major part of the story in season 6 of the hit AMC show when she took on the role of Deanna, the leader of the Alexandria Safe-Zone.  While Deanna changed things in a major way on The Walking Dead, it seems like the show may have had a huge impact on her as well.

You see, getting a role on one of the most popular shows in recent television history can do a lot for someone.  It can help to get your name and face out to an audience that might have possibly never heard or seen them previously.  In the case of Tovah Feldshuh, she was already fairly well known for her time on hit shows like Law & Order and As The World Turns.  However, she might be getting a little swept up in the culture of The Walking Dead.

According to an interview on YahooTV, Feldshuh is really embracing her new found notoriety.

"“Nobody ever wants to leave The Walking Dead. You want to last as long as you can stay on it, because the darn thing is just so very good, so beloved by its viewers, because it goes very deep into the river of what it means to be alive in this world. It raises questions about whether a bourgeois life kills the soul, a bourgeois protected and comfortable life versus a more stressful existence, which can be both horrendous but also very, very enlightening.”"

The Walking Dead has done some great things for actors that have appeared on the show.  Many of them are picking up roles on other major programs after they leave AMC’s hit zombie show.  They’ve landed roles on major crime dramas, superhero programs, and numerous other projects.  However, it’s hard to beat the current popularity of The Walking Dead.

"“When I’m on my bicycle with my helmet on, in my camouflage, and people yell from across Central Park West, “The Walking Dead! We love you! We love you!” it’s wild! My Twitter account… it went from like 150 to 3,600 people in a week or something. Now, I know Norman [Reedus] has more than a million followers, the great Norman Reedus. Just to be in this century on Twitter, on Facebook, catching up to the media, it’s been wonderful.”"

To me, it’s kind of funny that a celebrity can measure their popularity based on their twitter following, but in the case of Tovah Feldshuh, it would be hard not to notice that kind of a jump in popularity.  Not only is there social media and fans screaming from the streets, but now there are plenty of opportunities to meet your favorite actors at other events.  Things like Wizard World’s Comic Con and Walker Stalker Con are great places to meet some of the folks from The Walking Dead.  And from the sound of things, Feldshuh is excited about that part of the life involving The Walking Dead as well.

"“Do I want to go to Comic-Con? Oh, I’d love to do it. I’ve never gone. It’s just another world, and I hope Scott Gimple and production will take me. I hope they invite me, because if they invite me, I’ll say yes.”"

You can catch Tovah Feldshuh and the rest of the cast of The Walking Dead when the popular show returns to AMC for their 6th season this fall.  Be sure to check your local listings for time and availability as well as keep up to date on news, rumors, and spoilers here at the Undead Walking website.
