Fear the Walking Dead’s breakout character had an extra scene that we didn’t see during the season, but we can see now from the special features of the DVD.

Fear the Walking Dead broke records last August when it premiered as the number 1 show in cable history. The DVD and Blu-ray was released in December, but now a Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray with a new lenticular cover and hours of bonus content will be released on March 22, 2016.

The bonus content includes 5 deleted scenes, 7 newly produced featurettes and audio commentary on every episode. Anchor Bay has sent us one of the deleted scenes so you can see it ahead of the March release of the DVD.

This scene involves breakout character Victor Strand, played by Colman Domingo and Liza, Elizabeth Rodriguez. It also includes fan favorite Nick, Frank Dillane, but he is indisposed in the scene.

The scene would have taken place sometime after Nick and Griselda were taken away in the middle of the night. It changes things a little from the way we saw them on the show.

After they were taken, the next time we saw them, Liza was with Griselda in the hospital section of the compound and Nick was in the cells with Strand and the neighbor.

From what we might have surmised, Liza didn’t know where they took Nick, but she stayed with Griselda. Here it seems she lost track of both Nick and Griselda and didn’t stay with Dr. Exner.

Another twist this would give to the story, if it would have been included, is that Strand would have known that Nick had friends on the outside. Maybe that’s part of the “value add” he sees in Nick.  We would have seen a tiny bit of heart in Strand that he gave Liza some assistance.

It also shows that Strand had a little bit of intel, or at the very least was very observant. Somehow he knew where the sick people were.  It still doesn’t let us know why the people were chosen to go in those cells.

Agitators would be one category. People that caused too much trouble on the outside or asked too many questions. Had they stayed there much longer, Madison might have ended up in a cell with Nick and Strand.

Sick or possibly infected would be the other category. Those went in the basement. They needed to be quarantined from the healthy population. Did they ever really intend to help Dr. Exner and get her out of there? Did Cobalt ever happen after the group escaped to Strand’s house?

Do you think this scene would have been good to keep or was it smart that it ended up deleted? I think it’s better that it was deleted. Strand was impressive enough here, but his entrance as he belittled the neighbor’s wife and professed himself the closer was outstanding.
