Walking Dead Companion Series will be about family

The Walking Dead Companion Series will be focused in on a family aspect that has not been seen on the original series.
The Walking Dead is set to kick off the back-half of Season 5 in a couple of weeks. It will premiere on February 8, but creator Robert Kirkman is doing his best to keep things on the low for the show. He doesn’t want to give any more details for that upcoming season.

He did have some things to mention about the companion series that will be filming soon though. Here is what he had to say according to Interionation Business Times.
"According to Kirkman, the new show is “going to be about family.” Since the “Walking Dead” survivors refer to themselves as family, the two shows might not sound too different. However, the creator teased that it’s going to be “about a different type of family that we haven’t explored in ‘The Walking Dead’ thus far.”"
This zombie apocalypse will focus on the family. Here is a listing of the different characters that we know about on the show via TV Line:
"SEAN CABRERA | A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.CODY CABRERA | Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.NICK TOMPKINS | Nancy’s screwed up teenage son. He’s too old to stay home, too scared to flee.ASHLEY TOMPKINS | Nancy’s mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. She loves her mom but it’s time to get out of Dodge.ANDREA CHAPMAN | A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea — yep, another Andrea! — has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage."
Looking at the different characters for the spinoff, you can see that Nancy and Sean are parents that have their kids along with them. Nancy is the mother of two teenagers. She will be looking to protect them throughout this crazy world. Sean has his teenage son along for the ride. It will be interesting to see how this family focused show will turn out.
Instead of focusing on a group, this show could focus on this mini-sized family and their path to survival. We will find out if Sean and Nancy get together and form a romantic relationship. That definitely could be part of the twists of this show.
We will see how Andrea fits into this mix. She is the only member of the cast that is not linked to some family. How long will she survive.
